METC20 Featured Speakers

Join us for 3 days of hands-on workshops, breakout sessions by local educators, TED-style Talks from national thought leaders, Poster Sessions, Playkerspace and more than 50 exhibitors! Build your own conference by picking 1, 2 or 3 conference days. 

Monday: STEAM & Computer Science Focus

Luncheon session will include TED-Style Talks from Michael Cohen and Kimberly Lane Clark, and a panel session with Patti Duncan, Kimberly Lane slark, Steve Douglass and students.

In addition, the METC Conference will be hosting the STL STEAM event. This event brings together more than 400 7th grade girls providing STEAM related experiences and opportunities. Engage in the hands-on presentations and see first-hand how these activities can inspire students to pursue non-traditional careers. A variety of companies and organizations will be conducting STEAM activities with the students, including Emerson, Watlow, BJC Healthcare, SeaPerch and Breakout EDU.

Tuesday: Leadership Focus

Opening Session will include TED-style Talk from Beth Houf and panel session with Joseph South, Beth Houf, Rena Hawkins and students.

Enhance your learning by adding the Leader and Learner Luncheon featuring Kimberly Lane Clark and Beth Houf.  This luncheon is for educators who want to learn and explore innovative promising practices that empower students and improve student learning. Kimberly and Beth will share their ideas for both learning and leading as a connected educator today!

Wednesday: Library and Media Literacy Focus

Opening Session will include TED-style Talk from Tara Martin  and a panel session with Michael Cohen, Tara Martin, Bill Bass and students.

Enhance your learning by adding the Designer and Citizen Luncheon (formerly the Library & Media Literacy Luncheon) featuring Michael Cohen and Tara Martin. This luncheon is for educators who want to inspire by positively contributing and responsibly participating in the digital world. Michael and Tara will show us how to become creators and not just consumers in today’s world.

The conference day will conclude with a Genius Hour - an opportunity to learn from, engage with and ask questions of our featured speakers. Each speaker will be hosting their own session that will be dedicated to what you still want to know or learn from our experts. Visit several or spend the entire time with the speaker of your choice.

The METC Conference will not be cancelled due to inclement weather. 

Cancellation requests must be made in writing to LaDonna Henderson at Cancellations received by Friday, January 24, 2020 will incur a 20% cancellation fee. Cancellations received after Friday, January 24, 2020 are not eligible for a refund. No-shows will be billed in full.
