STEM & MakerEd Academy

In this new, creative and engaging academy, you will experience a collaborative environment that supports STEM and the Maker Movement. You will learn the basics of making and engineering by building prototypes by hand using simple tools such as paper, glue, and tape, as well as experience 3D printing. You will participate in hands-on experiments, virtual field trips, and real-world problem solving techniques for all ages. We will explore Makerspace ideas, design a space, and curate resources for a successful Maker environment. The STEM & MakerEd Academy is open to anyone interested in developing habits of creativity, innovation, design thinking and more. All participants will receive a Dash or Cue Robot, complimentary online PD, and one day attendance at the METC Conference, including the STEM & CTE Luncheon. Academy Participants will:

• Engage in discussions and excursions surrounding STEM & the Maker Movement
• Reflect on personal learning by modeling digital citizenship through online chats  and discussion forums
• Collaborate and curate resources and ideas for design thinking and creative making
• Receive a Dash or Cue Robot and free online PD through Teach Wonder
• Construct a STEM Curriculum and / or Makerspace, including Computer Science & PBL Projects
• Discover learning resources connected to the ISTE Standards and Future Ready Frameworks
• Explore contemporary and emerging technology resources like Google Apps, OER, Discovery Education
• Experience the importance of self-directed learning and professional learning networks
