Virtual Memories - Bringing Yearbook to Life with Augmented Reality Software

This session will highlight how a small urban school was able to boost Yearbook sales by providing VR-enabled images in their Yearbook. Using the Aurasma application, various videos are linked to our 2016 Yearbook. This tech can be utilized throughout the school. Bring your smartphones to this session to have an opportunity to create your own Aurasma account, take a sample video, and link it to the "trigger" image of the METC logo.

What can a Sphero do for you? Change the way you teach! Sphero is a robot that creates increased engagement with students. Using basic coding skills, teachers can create an environment where students make cross-curricular connections to topics being taught. You will discover some basic coding skills so you can incorporate robotics, coding and more into many different subjects. In this session you will see examples of Sphero lending a hand to teach various concepts in the elementary setting. What, Why, and How?: Project Based Learning in the 21st Century Classroom

The focus on 21st Century skills, student creation, collaboration, and choice create an excellent opportunity for incorporating Project Based Learning (PBL) into the classroom. Project/Problem Based Learning is an equitable approach to education therefore elevating and educating students in a learner-driven classroom. We will discuss the misconceptions of Project Based Learning, its effectiveness in regard to student engagement and achievement, development of curriculum, and include a collaborative brainstorm session pertaining to the implementation of technology tools in a project based setting. This session will offer real examples from the classroom and include personal experience from an educator that has implemented Project Based Learning successfully in the classroom.
What's All the Hype About Hyperdocs

HyperDoc is a term used to describe a Google Doc that contains an innovative lesson for students- a 21st Century worksheet, but much better. It's about hyperlinking your docs for amazing learning experiences! Come and learn what a Hyperdoc is and isn't, and how to create your own. At the end of the session, you will be able to create your own Hyperdoc and be able to bring this great tool back to your school. Hyperdocs will help teachers and administrators make their documents come alive and transform the way in which they are delivering content currently.
