Making, coding, designing and more...this two day event is for the creative and innovative educator, as well as those content teachers of Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) and the Arts. This will be a fantastic gathering of tech enthusiasts, makers, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, and students. Local organizations and vendor presentations will be shared as well. Talented STEAM “makers” will come together to share at our two day Summer Institute. Krissy Venosdale and Steve Dembo will help us kick off the event & several midwest STEM & Maker educators will share what they have learned, and how they make innovative projects and complete engaging activities in their flexible spaces. All educators interested in supporting the Maker Movement and STEAM in our schools should attend. WorkshopRequirements: Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop, tablet and other mobile devices.

Krissy Venosdale is currently Innovation Coordinator at Kinkaid Lower School in Houston, TX where she is working to develop the PreK to 4th grade makerspace, “The Launch Pad.” She loves incorporating creativity and technology in authentic ways, supporting teachers, and seeing kids experience the true power of global connections. Krissy believes she's been waiting her whole life for the Maker movement and wishes she would have had more time in school as a kid to play. She spends every day of her adult life making up for it. Steve Dembo was a pioneer in the field of educational podcasting. His blog and podcast, Teach42, has served as the inspiration for thousands of educators. In 2006, the Online Education Database named him one of the Top 100 EduBloggers. A former kindergarten teacher and Director of Technology, Steve was also the Online Community Manager for the Discovery Educator Network. Steve has been a keynote presenter, featured at numerous conferences including MACUL, METC, FETC, Tech Forum, and the DEN National Leadership Conference. He has conducted hundreds of virtual presentations and can be found writing, teaching and sharing on his website or on Twitter @teach42.
